Time on the Floor - 051116
Gotta dance
~ Donald O'Connor, from "Singin' in the Rain"
Tell me I'll forget, show me, I may remember,
involve me and I'll understand.
~ Chinese Proverb
Anything worth doing is worth doing to excess.
~ Richard Porter
Like the Chinese proverb says, "involve me and I'll understand".
In sports, we call it PT - Playing Time.
In the movie "Shall We Dance", Richard Gere is told for
every hour of class, he should practise for five hours.
There is no substitute for time on the floor.
Dance, dance, dance.
Moving your body to music, even if the music is only
in your head, works wonders.
The opposite works too. When you are sitting in your car
listening to music, dancing in your head is surprisingly,
nearly as good as the real thing.
When you push your shopping cart around Publix, have some fun.
Do a grapevine down the aisle, and a yeminite step around
the corners. I do.
When you are waiting around for some thing or some one, don't get frustrated, dance.
Dance your basic patterns, like slow-slow-quick-quick, or one-two--one-two-three.
Sure you will look weird, but you will be enjoying yourself.
And try some of the other kinds of dancing.
There is a lot of dancing in Gainesville, so get out and have a good time.
